The idiots guide for dishwasher installing.

Welcome to my dishwasher installing guide.

Together we'll put the biggest smile on your wife's face since her wedding day.

I'll supply the brains and you'll supply the brawn.

Before we start, you need to choose which dishwasher installing system will suit you best.
Click here and scroll down to installation diagram. Choose which one best describes your set out.

Great you're back already.

Ok, so you decided your dishwasher is going right next to your sink bowl.

Here's a list of tools you'll need.

1. Hacksaw

2. Cresent/adjustable wrench.

3. Screw driver square head, straight and phillips (star head.)

4. Level

5. Drill and drill bit 50mm/2"

Now here's a list of materials you'll need.

1. Dishwasher trap (This has a small tit on the side that the dishwasher hose connects to.) If the waste pipe goes straight down through the floor you'll need an S trap. If it goes out of the trap side ways and then down, you'll need a P trap.

2. Dishwasher tap

Wingback or bracket elbow.

4. An olive or crox tee. (The wingback above should be an olive type connection ie have a thread on the pipe end like the tee below.

Right we're ready to go.

Oh well nearly. Before we get stuck in click here to learn about making a brass to copper joint then click on the back button when done.

No more false starts. Here we go a dishwasher installing .

1. Take off the old trap from under your sink.

2. Hold the dishwasher trap up to the bottom thread of your plug and waste. (You may need to cut out some of your shelf if it gets in the way.)

3. If your using an S trap simply mark the waste pipe where the trap socket ends.

4. Cut the waste pipe and fit new trap.

5. If you use a P trap (waste pipe comes out of trap sideways)you will probably have to lower the bend that comes away from existing trap.

If you need to alter the waste pipe to make it fit click here then push back button to return.

By now you should have your dishwasher trap in place ready for dishwasher hose.

*Water supply for dishwasher installing.

The next thing we need to take care of is to bring water into the cupboard space next to the dishwasher.

If the water pipes come straight up through the cabinet it should be easy to tee into the cold pipe and direct it to your wingback and dishwasher tap.

Turn the water off
Click here to make the dishwasher tap joint

If your pipes run up inside the wall and your house is off the ground, make your water connection under the house. (pick an area with a bit of room to swing a hacksaw.

Drill a hole through the bottom of your cabinet and bring the pipe through from underneath to wingback in cupboard. If you need to put bends in your pipe, you will be able to use olive bends.

This does away with having to have pipe benders and welding equipment.

Screw in dishwasher tap.

If your pipes come up inside wall and your on a concrete slab, you will need to cut a panel out inside your cabinets rear wall to access your cold pipe. (this is a testing tee to cut in with such a small area to work in but be patient and you'll get there.

You have just finished the hardest part about dishwasher installing. The rest is plain sailing.

Bring it all together

You will need to drill a 50mm/2" hole at the bottom and top of the side wall of your cabinet. (The bottom hole will be for the water hose and power lead and the top hole is for the waste hose.)

If you decide to bring your waste hose through the bottom hole remember to take it up to the underside of sink bench before conncecting to trap tit. See dishwasher diagram link at top of page to check.

Simply push on waste hose to trap tit.Place hose clip around hose and tighten.

Bring water hose through hole and screw on to dishwasher tap.

Screw dishwasher to cabinet side panels ( see indervidual dishwasher instructions for dishwasher fixing holes.)

Level up feet on dishwasher by adjusting feet. Turn on water. Turn on dishwasher tap. Plug in and switch power on.

Excellent, dishwasher installing is complete.

Press wash button and get ready to be pampered all night long:)
