Tips on dishwasher plumbing install.

Ok its time for the dishwasher plumbing install.

Before we start, I need you to check out 2 different dishwasher installation types and decide if this page is best suited for your set up.

Click on this link to find out the best set up that resembles yours. Scroll down to diagram, then press your back button to return.

Great your back.

By now you have chosen that your dishwasher will not be right next to your kitchen sink bowl.

What this means, is you will have to bring in a seperate cold water line and waste water pipe to complete your dishwasher plumbing install.

Let's start with your water feed to your dishwasher first. 95% of new dishwashers only require a single cold water feed.Check this out when purchasing.

You'll need the following tools.

1. Hacksaw or wheel cutter.

2. Cresent/adjustable wrench.

3. Screw driver square head, straight and phillips (star head.)

4. Level

5. Drill and drill bit 50mm/2"

I'll list the materials you'll need as we go along accompanied with a photo.

Shut off water

Find the closest cold pipe to where your dishwasher is going to be located. (Under the house is great but if you're on a concrete slab you may need to cut into a wall.)

Ensure you have room to work. (better to have room to work and use a little more pipe than trying to save on pipe and working in a confined area.)

Use crox fitting or olive fittings to make joins They come in bends, tees, wingbacks ,this will hold dishwasher tap (No fire risk, easy to use, and few tools needed to do)

You will want to run the water pipe to the side and rear of the dishwasher. This allows you to turn the water off without pulling the machine out.

Once you have run your pipe next to dishwasher, attach a wingback and screw to wall.

Now screw dishwasher tap into wingback.

Turn water back on. Open dishwasher tap into bucket and flush out filings and any jointing compound.

If dishwasher has cabinet surround, drill a 50mm/2" hole for water hose, powerlead and waste hose.

Water completed, time to run waste pipe.

Your halfway through your dishwasher plumbing install and going great. If you have come this far, the rest will be a easy peazy.

Refer back to the waste diagram then hit your back button to return.

1.You will need to place your trap just above or floor level and bring riser pipe up approx 750mm/29"

2. Take your pipe under floor and run to gully or combined waste water pipe.

Click here to learn how to run waste pipe, then click back button to return.

It is very important to support waste pipe with metal channel. The very hot water dishcharged from dishwasher will bow the unsupported waste pipe.

Just about there.

Connect water pipe up to dishwasher tap.

Put on waste hose bend support (this comes with dishwasher) and feed into top of waste pipe. Screw support to wall.

Level up legs of dishwasher (They screw up and down to compensate for unlevel floors.

Screw dishwasher into place. (Dishwasher instructions will show, where your particular fixings holes are.)

Fantastic, your dishwasher plumbing install is complete.

Now turn that baby on and put ya feet up.

Well done.
