Tips not covered in dishwasher installation
This page is the special tips for dishwashers that are not covered in the main pages.
These tips will
1. Help reduce the chance of a hose or fitting blowing in dishwasher.
2. Prevent machine from tipping.
3. Stop hoses being squashed as you push your DW into place.
4. Keep your machine smelling fresh.
Hose blow out
Check and see if you main water supply has a pressure limiting valve.
(This valve stops the pressure getting higher than is recommended for certain tapware, hot water cylinders and appliance
hoses)
If your unsure, buy a cheap pressure guage and screw onto your tap.
Turn on then....
Read pressure reading late at night when pressures will be at their highest.
Your instructions will give you a maximum pressure rating.
Install a pressure limiting valve only if your pressure guage goes over this.
I know your thinking what a hassle But believe me, this is cheap insurance compared to a house flood.
Stop your machine tipping
If your washing appliance has no fixing screw hole points (most have)
Buy a cheap pair of foot anchors and position so that your machines, back feet slide into them when pushed into position.
These will need to be screwed to floor.
Solution 2. If your dishwasher sits under a bench, simply wind down the feet till only 1/16" or 3mm gap remains.
Stop your hoses getting squashedAs you push your appliance into place, draw the hoses through into the cabinet at the same speed. A second persons help, is better still, as the hose can be pulled through hole without it catching on edges. (A hose catching on the cabinet edge can easily tear) The excess hose can then be tidily clipped inside cabinet. Stop that rotting food smell! Your dishwasher will have basket filter inside the unit. This stops large pieces of food from entering your DW hose and blocking it. If left at the bottom of your DW too long rotting and nasty odours develop.
Slide out your bottom rack.Look for filter basket. Some will pull straight out, others will need a 1/4 turn anti clockwise. Clean and rinse in soapy water. Replace filter and rack. Now breath deep, that odour should be long gone.
