How to install, unclog, compare features and retrieve stuck items from your insinkerator garbage disposal.
Welcome to my insinkerator garbage disposal section.
Today you going to find out what features come with your disposal unit, what they do, if they're really neccessary and other helpful tips.
I also cover
How to unclog an insinkerator .
How to retrieve stuck items (spoons, bones, caps etc)
6 things you should never put down your unit and how to keep it smelling sweet
Now back to the features and do you really need/want them? The first feature is the reset button.
This is a vital feature and should be included on every disposal unit you look at.What's it do? The reset button means that the disposal unit has an overload mechanism that throws out if the motor is overworked. This can happen if something hard gets caught in the blades eg. spoon, bone, stone, etc When this mechanism throws out, you simply retrieve the stuck object and push the reset button to restart motor.
The next feature is definitely wish list material.
The air button controller.
The air controller allows you to position you on off control close to the sink working area. This is in comparison to having to lean right across the bench to electrial switch. The other thing I like about this air switch is....... You can be working with soaking wet hands and not be concered about getting a tingle from the power supply.
Blade direction controller
The direction switch, changes the direction your blades spin, inside the insinkerator garbage disposal unit. The manufactures say, it helps keep blades sharp.(Most disposal units are past their use by date, by the time the blades dull)
Horse power
1/2 horse power V 3/4 horse power.Go with more grunt. If your machine is straining everytime you put something tougher than a strawberry in, it's just not going to last. Let you disposer do the job effortlessly.Say no more.
